VILLA STRANDEN BY EVA HARLOU*
Villa Stranden is located by the east coast of Jutland, Denmark. The architecture is an interpretation of the classic Danish house with roof pitch. The special shape of the roof and the displacement of the facade sections make a much lighter architectural appearance. To ensure privacy the villa has a closed facade towards the access road. Towards the sea and the great view the villa has an open and maritime looking facade.

BEACH HOUSE BY EVA HARLOU*

Z HOUSE (DENMARK)
Z House is a very exclusive house, located on the eastern coastline of Jutland, Denmark. Z House is designed for a family of two parents and four children. The minimalistic Z-shape of the house is a simple geometrical shape that solves all challenges in the project. Z House is a three level house with great outdoor terraces in 2 different levels. The unique view towards the sea is enhances both from the living rooms and from the outdoor terraces. Ramps lead from the surrounding garden to the indoor areas. The basement includes garage, storage, wine cellar, game rooms, bathrooms and a large indoor swimming-pool area with direct access to the garden. Plan 0 includes the main entrance hall, a utility room, bedrooms, bathrooms, an open kitchen and a large living room with direct access to the lowest roof terrace. The top floor includes master bathroom, master bedroom with walk-in closet and a smaller living room with a fireplace. The top floor has a unique panoramic view towards the sea and access to the top roof terrace surrounded by a hedge of bamboo. In the central part of the house a large wall painting underlines the triple high entrance hall creating a great vertical connection through the house.

STUDENT’S HOME (NOERRE ALLÉ, COPENHAGEN)
This home for 50 students is located in the centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. The existing, old building is designed with a new, funky interior suitable for Danish and foreign students. The main concept is the circle that dictates all new interior and exterior design. The common areas are located in the centre of the building around a circular atrium that makes an open vertical connection through the building. The private homes are designed with a special feature - bookshelves with mirror walls that create great spatial effects. Using IR-technology the walls in the corridors are transformed into interactive touch screens connected to the students computers. Here students can communicate with other students even though they’re not in the same room.

CIRCLE HOUSE (APARTMENT BUILDING, AARHUS, DENMARK)
Circle House is an apartment building in the center of Aarhus, Denmark. The signature of the building is the facade with it’s pattern of circles. The facade is highly decorative and also has a practical function as protection towards the apartments behind. At night the light from the apartments gives the facade an even stronger appearance. The ground floor includes a café and restaurant.

STAR HOUSE (+STAR RESORT +STAR TOWER)
Star House is designed to combine modern functionality and a highly innovative architectural language. Star House is a single family house suitable as a holiday house or as a all-year residence. The house varies in sizes from 100 to 150 sqm. Star House is shaped of two twisted triangles – one triangle creating the indoor areas and one triangle creating three outdoor terraces on each side of the house. The simple geometry of the house – with building elements repeating themselves all way round the house – makes the house very suitable as a system-built house and very suitable for prefabrication. It’s fast, easy and economic to produce and built the house, and it will be launched as a prototype house to be built in both Scandinavia and the rest of the world. The functionality of Star House is of high priority. The interior is very logical having private bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, storage etc. in the three corners of the building and a large central living room in the centre of the building. A large ceiling-light brings extra daylight into the central living room. Three large openings in the facades lead to the surrounding outdoor terraces and create great outlook in all directions. The simple star shape of the house makes it very easy to fit the house into very different sites with different access-roads, sun-positions and outlooks. Creating Star House it has also been of high priority to create a strong architectural language. The house is a strong icon with an almost futuristic architectural appearance. Multiple Star Houses in a resort will for instance be a very recognizable trademark.
Even though a “landmark”-effect is wanted it has still been important to create a house with a recognizable design to make the residents feel safe and comfortable. For instance the “star” is a simple well-known geometrical shape with straight calming lines and the facades are very quite, minimalistic and humane.

Curve House is a senior house designed to create great spacial qualities in a relatively small house. Curve House is custom designed to fulfill the specific dreams of the client. For instance the house has a japanese courtyard, indoor swimmingpool, roof lounge with panoramic view and a roof garden.

RAADHUSGRUNDEN IN ALLEROED (OFFICE BUILDING)
The old city hall building on Raadhusgrunden in Alleroed, Denmark, is restored and transformed into a modern office building. New balconies on the facades are some of the things that bring the outdated 1960’s building to life. Houses for elderly are designed for the surrounding green area.

HILL HOUSE (HOLIDAY HOME, TURKEY)
Hill House is designed for a larger holiday resort in Turkey. The holiday homes are very luxuriuos three level houses big enough to house a large family. The top floor includes three private bedrooms, bathroom and a large living room with a unique panoramic view towards the sea. Level 0 includes a garage for private parking, bathroom, a large livingroom with an open kitchen area and direct access to the oudoor terrace with private swimmingpool. The bottom floor includes a fitness area and a large lounge area with bar. Large windows towards the swimmingpool makes a great feature in the bottom floor. Hill House is economical and rational to build because of the simple geometry of the building.

CRYSTAL HOUSE (LIVING IN A DIAMOND)
Crystal House is both a sculptural house and a house with a very rational interior design. The sculptural look is created by rotating a square roof 45 degrees compared to a square ground floor. Crystal Tower is created by stacking the units.

FRAME HOUSE (SKAERING STRAND)
Frame House is a vacation house by the east coast of Jutland, Denmark. The building is cross-shaped and includes a central kitchen/bathroom area and bedroom/ living rooms towards the ends. From the indoor area there is direct access to outdoor terraces. The frame construction of the house is angled to create a unique architectural effect in the indoor corridor and living room and to create shelter by the outdoor terraces.
